Council employs an Animal Control and By-Laws Officer who is responsible for enforcing Council By-Laws and the Dog Control Act 2000. The Officer proactively polices the provisions of the Act to ensure that all dog owners are acting responsibly.
The Officer has the responsibility for fire hazard abatement and nuisances in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 and undertakes regular inspections of properties on a proactive and reactive basis to ensure compliance with the relevant By-Laws.
