GENERAL INFORMATION
Stretching from Buckland in the south to Bicheno in the north, the Freycinet Coast is part of the Glamorgan Spring Bay Municipality, which has the unique distinction of being the oldest Rural Municipality in Australia. The region can be approached from the south via the Convict Trail, from Hobart via the Tasman Highway, from the west via the Heritage Highway and from the north via St Helens.
Retail shopping hours are usually 9.00am to 5.00pm (later in summer).
Petrol stations are located in all towns in the region; however visitors should ensure they have a full tank if travelling late in the day.
ATMs are located in Triabunna, Swansea and Coles Bay.
National Parks are accessible year round and National Park Passes are available at the National Park Visitor Centres, some accommodation venues and other retail outlets.
Please drive with care, particularly between dusk and dawn when much of the local wildlife can be seen on our roads.
A detailed list of the general services, accommodation and restaurants can be found on the tear off town maps available from the Visitor Centres and retail businesses in each centre.
ACCOMMODATION
An excellent range of accommodation establishments is available in the region, including B&B, motel, guest houses, self-contained cottages, resort, and caravan parks.
Look for accredited tourism businesses displaying the accreditation symbol. It represents a commitment by the operator to excellence and means that your hosts have achieved accreditation to a standard acceptable to the Australian Tourism Accreditation Council.
Please check with one of the local information centres if you have not arranged prior accommodation. During the busy summer and autumn seasons, bookings prior to the time of travel are essential.
